Violin and Piano
Hannah Spear, currently residing in Chicago, IL, recently completed her Masters degree at DePaul University under I-Hao Lee. Hailing originally from North Carolina, she earned her undergraduate degree with Marjorie Bagley while soloing and performing with ensembles around the state and country. Highlights include concerts with the New World Symphony, Petr Kotik’s SEM Ensemble, playing and singing with Bonnie Prince Billy, and lots of back porch bluegrass. Hannah spent formative summers at Charles Castleman’s Quartet Program, was a fellow at the National Repertory Orchestra and the Round Top Festival Institute, and a member of the AIMS in Graz faculty orchestra in Graz, Austria.
A dedicated teacher, Hannah has retained the ideal from her Suzuki upbringing and training that “every child can.” She is deeply invested in each student’s success, and believes in creating a nurturing, yet stimulating environment tailored to the learning style and pace of the individual. She will encourage consistent care and effort on the part of the student, while maintaining big picture goals: to grow, to create something beautiful, and to find joy in the process.
