Now in its third year, ACM's High School composer's workshop is an excellent opportunity for young musicians to work with a professional composer and write a piece of music to be perfomed and recorded by professional musicians.
Whether the student is already composing, considering a career in music, or is interested in learning to compose for the first time, this workshop provides the tools for success.
All students will receive:
- Nine three-hour sessions in which they work with ACM Executive Director Seth Boustead, and their classmates, to compose a new piece of music.
- Workshops with professional musicians who will be on hand to read through the works in progress, to demonstrate their instruments and to answer questions.
- A final performance of their finished pieces in Ganz Hall at Roosevelt University with a reception to follow
- A master class with an internationally recognized composer
- A professional quality CD recording of their finished work, to also be posted on the ACM website
- Free tickets to see the Chicago Symphony's MusicNOW concert of contemporary Classical music in the Fall of 2008
- Confidence in their ability to express themselves musically and to speak articulately about their music
If you have any questions about the workshop please do not hesitate to email us or call us at 773-334-3650.
