ACM seeks Artistic Director for 2008-2009 season


Accessible Contemporary Music (ACM) is a not-for-profit arts organization in Chicago, IL dedicated to promoting the music of living composers through performance, education, composer advocacy and innovative use of our website.

ACM has been featured on WTTW, WFMT, WBEZ, WGN, in the Sun-Times, the Tribune and in Chicago Magazine. Our programs include Weekly Readings, Sound of Silent Film Festival, Composer Alive, a High School Composers Workshop and others. ACM is a growing organization with a 2008 annual budget exceeding $100,000.

This is an exciting chance to work with a rising ensemble and make an impact on Chicago's contemporary music scene.

The right candidate should be willing to invest at least 10 hours per week fulfilling the following duties:

  • Work with the ensemble to choose the repertoire for the performance season
  • Schedule rehearsals for the season
  • Coach the ensemble at rehearsals if needed
  • Ensure artistic quality of each piece to be performed
  • Conduct the ensemble in performance as required
  • Act as the artistic representative of ACM
  • Attend conferences, galas, concerts, other social events as required
  • Meet with the Executive Director as needed
  • Be personable and comfortable speaking on stage
  • Be self-motivated and driven to success


This position represents significant growth opportunity and public exposure and receives monetary compensation for each performance of the season.
